Ava was telling me about her day at school and she mentioned she had a new friend named Caroline. She seemed pretty happy about this because Caroline rides the bus with her to their after school program. I asked her how they met and she told me the following story:
“I was on the playground and Caroline walked up to me.
She asked me to be her friend,
and I said yes.”
Adult life just isn’t that simple. Everything tends to be so complicated.
The beauty of an early childhood friendships is in the simple trust of one person asking and then the other person accepting.
I hope to teach my girls to keep their hearts open and to accept others with ease, honesty, and friendship.
Kindergartener philosophy, so much more wisdom that I expected.
It’s such a wonderful gift.
